John B. Hidle (son of John Hidle and Mary Blakely) was born Abt. 1821 in Edgefield District, South Carolina, and died Abt. 1875 in Sellersville, Geneva Co. Alabama. He married (1) Martha Ann Minerva Whitehurst on October 25, 1843 in Tallahassee, Leon Co. Florida. He married (2) Mary Elizabeth Marshall on Abt. 1864.
Notes for John B. Hidle: It is thought that John B. Hidle's middle name was Blakely, the maiden name of his mother Mary Blakely. John B. has a grandson and great-grandson named John Blakely.
Marriage Record October 25, 1843, Book X, page 93, Territory of Florida lists "John B. Hudle" and "Martha A. M. Coleman" joined in matrimony by George E. Dennis, Justice of the Peace.

1851 Monroe County, Georgia Deed Record Vol. S, page 229-230 John B. Hidle sold to his brother, Phillip T. Heidle, his one-sixth share of their father's estate in Monroe County then in the posession of their mother, Mary Blakely Hidle, in 1851: John B. Hidle of Pike County, Ga "For and in consideration of the sum of One Hundred dollars, in had paid, "...sell unto Phillip T. Hidle of county of Monroe of said State, all my right, title, interest or claim...to the share of one sixth part, of the dower of Mary Hidle, resting in me at the death of the said Mary Hidle, to lot of land number one hundred, south half in the Eleventh District of Monroe County." November 9, 1851. Registered November 18, 1880.
J. B. Heidle was enlisted for service in the Civil War on July 29, 1862 at Garlandville, Mississippi by Capt. G. F. Peek for the duration of the war. He served in Company C, 15th Battalion Alabama Partisan Rangers which was consolidated with five companies of the 13th Battalion Alabama Partisan Rangers on June 8, 1863, to form the regiment subsequently known as the 56th Regiment Alabama Partisan Rangers.
Records state: John B. Hidle "Detailed as a Gunsmith Oct. 31, 1862, by order of Major Boyles." Slips dated between Sept. 1862 to Oct. 1863 state "On extra duty since Oct 1." Special Orders of the Adjutant and Inspector General's Office " Private John B. Heidle Co. C, 56 Regt. Ala Cav. Subject: Detailed." Special Order #184/11 Aug. 5, 1864 "Private John B. Heidle, of Company C, Fifty-sixth Regiment Alabama Cavalry, is detailed for duty in Ordinance Department, and will report to Lieutenant Colonel J. L. White, commanding, Confederate States arsenal Selma, Ala. for assignment. (This Arsenal was completely destroyed by Wilson's Raiders April 2, 1865.)
Coffee County, Alabama Deeds 1864 September 15, 1864, George Scott and his wife Harriett Scott of Coffee Co. AL, sold to John B. Hidle, eighty acres of land located in Section 12, Township 2, Rnage 20, for the sum of eight hundred dollars. Witnessed by Sion Marshall and Joseph Weeks.
1867 Voter Registration and Oath of Allegiance No. 11 "Personally appeared before me this 10th day of July 1867, John B. Heidle, who resides in the 15th Precinct of Coffee County, Alabama. He swears he has resided in the State of Alabama for the past 12 months and now reside in Coffee County. He signs the oath and states he was born in Edgefield Dist. S.C. A. C. Rose, Register of the 4th Registration District"

1871 Mortgage Coffee County, Alabama. Deed Book I, page 582 Mortgage to M. G. Stoutemire & Co. of land and livestock for advances to make a crop by J. B. Hidle and M. E. Hidle to be repaid by November 1, 1871. Witnessed 13 day January 1871 by __Motley. Received January 16 and recorded 27 Jan 1871. (Documents damaged by flood waters.)
1874 Coffee County, Alabama Deed Book I, page 582 J. B. Hidle borrowed from G. W. Gunter, money for farming 22 April 1874.
Family tradition says John B. Hidle died about 1875 or '76 and is buried in Shady Grove Cemetery, Sellersville, Geneva Co. Alabama. No marked grave has been found.
