Martin Hidle served under Col. Wade Hampton and Gen. Sumter after being captured at Congaree Fort. Congaree Fort was probably Fort Granby, commanded by Major Andrew Maxwell, British Forces, which was captured by Henry Lee's forces on 15 May 1781.

Martin Hidle, under South Carolina grant and consideration #244, acquired 490 acres, and #245, acquired 150 acres in the Orangeburgh District, 2 May 1785.
Also SC Land Grants #512, #513, in 1785, amounts unknown.

1790 Census South Carolina lists "Martin Hidle's" household as:
2 white males over 16 years
1 white male under 16 years
4 white females
No other persons, no slaves.

In 1791 a number of persons including Martin Hidle petitioned the South Carolina Legislature for payment for services in the military of the Revolution. Land Grant #407 was granted to Martin Hidle; 40 acres in the Orangeburgh District on February 19, 1791, recorded September 7, 1795.

On 20 November 1797 a Petition from Zion Lutheran Church requesting a Flat or other conveyance for crossing the Suludy River by the Congregation to attend church services and school. Petitioners were:
Martin Hidle, Martin Hok, Leanard Buch, John Klegly, George Lykes, John Geger, Andres Terer, Philip Tauber, Peter Mickler, Abraham Giger, Jr. (signed in German), Godleb Sox, Barnet Lybrand, Michael Draffs, Casper Leephard, Andrew Buch, Gottliel Klegly, John Drehr, Secretary & John Compty, Chairman.

Zion Lutheran Church records include tithing records for Martin and John Hidle, who are thought to be father and son.

1800 South Carolina Census lists "Martin Hydle's" household with:
1 white male 16 to 26 years
1 white male over 45 years
1 female 26 to 46 years.

1810 South Carolina Census lists "Martin Hidle's" household with:
1 white male over 45 years
1 white female over 45 years

1817: Memorialized records of Lexington District, SC 1814-1825 "Dead Poll for Lexington District in the year ending the last of December 1817."

NOTE: Is this MartinHeydel/Hidle (husband of Elisabetha Simons) the same as Martin Hidle who married Mary Ann Seaman? Or are they father and son? If there are two Martin Hidle's there is not yet conclusive proof that they are related to eachother, nor is it known for sure if they are ancestors of John Hidle.
