Our family lives in Western Washington State, coming to Lewis County as early as 1888. Listed below are the four main ancestral lines. We are searching for both descendants and ancesters. Currently (9/11/00) our data base contains about 1200 names. NOTE: Use this database with CAUTION and verify the data. Most of this information was obtained orally.

1. MAYNARD (Paternal grandfather): John Maynard (1833-1925) was born in Ramsey, Huntingdonshire, England. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1855 in New Orleans, married Margaret WARREN in 1859. They homesteaded a farm in Iowa in 1869 and both later died there. Margaret WARREN (1840-1923) was born in Shawneetown, IL and moved to Indiana to live with an aunt when her parents died. She may be part Native American (not yet confirmed). Their son Francis (Frank) MAYNARD (1873-1943) was born at State Center, Iowa. He moved to Lewis County, WA, around 1900 and married Ethel BAXTER. Their son was Everett MAYNARD (1909-1988).

JAMES (Maternal Grandfather): Ivor JAMES (1840-1908) and his wife Harriet BELL JAMES (1840-1921)came to the U.S. with their family, probably in the late 1860's or early 70's and settled in Pennsylvania where they worked in the coal mines to get a grub stake. Part of the family moved to Lewis County, WA, in 1888 and homesteaded. Their son George JAMES (1881-1957) married Matilda JAMES and they had a daughter Ealoha JAMES (1916-1971) who married Everett MAYNARD. They had three children: Marilyn, James, and Lynn.
