| Everett Maynard (1909-1988) and Ealoha James (1916-1971) had three children: Marilyn (1944 - ), Lynn (1952 - ) and James (1955 - ). The family has lived in the area of Lewis County, Washington State, since the late 1800's. We are researching the following branches: 1. Maynard (Paternal Grandfather): Everett's father was Francis Samuel Maynard (1873-1943). He was born in State Center, Iowa and came to Washington State in the late 1800's or early 1900's. He married Ethel Baxter in 1905 in Washington State. His parents were John Maynard (1843? - ?) and Margaret Warren (1840 - ?). John Maynard was born in England and came to New Orleans with his first wife who later died in an epidemic in St. Louis. He then married Margaret Warren who may have been part Native American from Indiana. 2. Baxter (Paternal Grandmother): Everett's mother was Ethel Baxter (1889 - 1957, born in Omaha, Nebraska, the adopted daughter of Curtis and Genette Baxter. Curtis was a vetern of the Union Army in the Civil War. The family evidently moved to Washington State in the late 1800's or early 1900's. 3. James (Maternal Grandfather): George James (1881-1957) was born in Dubois, PA. His father Ivar James (1840-1909) had been a coal miner in Wales. The family came to Pennsylvania where Ivar and his older sons worked in the coal mines until they earned enough money for part of the family to come to Washington State in 1888. They homesteaded land in Lewis County. Ivar's parents were Thomas and Mary James. Ivar's wife was Harriet Bell (1841-1922) and her parents were Elizabeth Goss and Richard Bell. 4. Pero/Perrault (Maternal Grandmother): Matilda Pero (1885-1976) was born in Lelenau County, Michigan and moved to Washington State with her mother and siblings in the late 1800's. Her parents were Albert Pero (1861-1937) and Mary Volk (1865-1904). Albert's family came from Three Rivers/Trois Rivier, Quebec, Canada, where the name was possibly spelled Perrault. His parents were Matilda Durant and Thomas Pero/Perrault. Mary Volk's parents were Clara Prince (1843-1930) and Peter Volk. Clara's parents, Leocard Masserau (1790 - 1894) and Peter Prince were born in France. |
