| You may also reach me via ICQ UIN 5964985. (You can no longer call me on (410)551-0831 We moved from Glen Burnie, MD 21061 to Home! 31 January 1998. ) YEEHAAAWWW!! My daughter, Erin, and I are researching our family tree first on my side of the family, then branching off into as many names and Links as possible. I have been doing this without proper documentation since the time I was eight years old. I have many different stories passed between generations but until recently, I had nothing to really tie to until I made a connection between my father's favorite story about his great grandfather and an internet link supporting this story listing records from the court house in Autauga County, Alabama. Our known family spans back to Prattville, Alabama when it was near Washington, Alabama prior to Daniel Pratt's industialization. We are currently looking for information about William Robert May and his parents, etc from Chilton, Tallapoosa, Lee, Macon, Elmore counties and of course our home, Autauga County in Alabama. Names: May, Griffith, Taylor, Tatum, Whitworth, Blankenship for starters. My fiancee' and life long friend, Debra Ivy (formerly Savage) is my next family project. My father (George William May) used to recount on many occasions the story of his great great grandfather Joseph May having land in what is now Chilton county and some of his escapades. Recently I discovered (much to my happiness) his story was correct from information gathered from other Internet web sites concerning Autauga County (thanks to Larry Noble and friends). UPDATE 16 Dec 1997: Today was extremely outstanding for my research. I discovered Joseph actually came from South Carolina, married three times (due to deaths of his first two wives) and each time, went home (South Carolina) to wed life long friends. His parents, Benjamin May and Mary Harrison, I noticed on someone else's page recently. His parents were John May and Elizabeth Stokes. I am however, missing two generations, between his third wife, Nancy Johnston, and my grandfather, William R. May. How do I know he descended from Nancy? His first two wives gave him only daughters, and Nancy gave him 10 additional children, (yep, he's a May boy alright). Five of whom remained in Autauga County when Joseph and Nancy moved to Noxubee, Mississippi where he died, July 21, 1863. Sorry, a bit excited! Dug deep 800 miles away. ; ) UPDATE: 18 Dec 1997: Just received an e-mail from Larry Nobles (author and geneologist in Prattville), who told me he has in his records a correction. The 1000 acres of land Joesph sold to Daniel Pratt was actually 1822 acres comprising of what is now, downtown. Tks, Larry. THIS IS SO GREAT! We'd appreciate any and all help we can receive, and to all, Happy Hunting! MAJOR UPDATE!!! 20 August 1998 Howdy! I'm BACK! As you can tell from the address, Erin and I have moved back home. The company I worked for lost a contract and transfered me to a branch of the company only 25 miles from H O M E !!! Woo Woo! Needless to say, I have increased my Family Tree like gang busters, worse part was trying to re-register with FTW because I couldn't remember my old phone number, I have a new computer and a different browser. I ended up pulling an old phone bill to parse the number. Whew! Anyway, I'm back, and today (20 August 1998) I met via e-mail William E. Goss, a long removed cousin of mine who has a Family tree out here with over 2000! Yes, that's two thousand individuals (including my great aunt Winnie). Well, I wanted to update this and get back to huntin' Cheers, don't be a stranger, ya'll come back now, ya hear! |
