John Gable was a German man of nobility, who migrated to this country, maybe on a ship that arrived on Dec. 31, 1744. However, for some reason he came to this country broke and had to work off his boat passage as an indentured servant. After finishing that, he was granted 250 acres of land in Saxe-Gotha Township in S.C. This was in what is now Lexington County, S.C.
