Find Family

The story of our family is widely diversified, as with all families. Some of the stories associated with names like Osa Fierce, Eugene H Clark and others read like a novel and would one day make for a very good book.
The McAhren, one can only assume, as with so many other family names, changed with the changes of location and education of family members and recording governmental officials. Although, I am still actively researching for a link to the original name of the first Scot/Irish immigrant who fathered this family in America. There are names that sound like ours-MCCARRON, MCCAHERN, MCCACHERN, MCEACHERN, all these I am researching. The earliest "connected" McAhren thus far is William R McAhren, born in 1769.

The Shirleys are, what my father used to call "Heinz 57", a mixture of English, German, and Scotch-Irish (a misnomar, if you were to ask my fiercely proud of his Scottish descent-husband.)
The Shirleys are nonetheless an exciting lot, their history contains links to an English castle, still in use to this day, and a German immigrant family, who came here to work as indentured servants. With ancestors and decendants both famous & infamous. And on a personal note to my very cherished husband, after whom this page is named: The Shirley family motto is NOT "Slowly, but Shirley!"
