I have substantial McAnally information I can share. I am searching for other descendants of Hamilton McANALLY. My line is as follows: Hamilton McANALLY (1818 in TN - 1860 in MO) m. Winifred Ann SIMMONS (1824 - 1857) Son: William Hamilton McANALLY (1846 in AL - 1928 in MO) m. Mary Catherine EAST (1843 - 1881) Son: William Franklin McANALLY (1868 in MO - 1946 in TX) m. Bettye Jo GRUBBS Daughter: Donica Sue McANALLY m. Joe Daniel WHEELER Son: Terry Daniel WHEELER Subj: Re: McAnally/Kyle connections Date: 12/17/2002 4:49:17 PM Central Standard Time From: bcxhansen@hotmail.com To: JohnRMcAnally@aol.com Sent from the Internet (Details) Sorry, Elizabeth was the first born 1792, the twins were born in 1794 Thanks for the others names, David Isaac and Nancy Kyle Mc had 7 children. Thank you for the names of the others. My direct ancestor was Thomas born in 1808. On page 138 of the book Bearers of the Pioneer Spirit information came from Mrs. Paul Brown of Columbia Tenn. who descended from their first child, Elizabeth Grimmett. The twins were born in 1794. I looked at the 1810 census for Grainger County, Tenn and found 1 male age 16 and 1 female also age 16 and came to the conclusion that those two must have been the fraternal twins that so far was unnamed, same age. Next on the 1835 tax list I found a "Hambleton" Mc. IF you study the naming pattern followed by David Isaac Mc, it makes sense that he would name his first son after Nancy Kyle's brother. Hamilton and David must have had a close relationship since they signed land deeds together in Amherst County, VA and then Hamilton moved with them to Tennessee. David's pattern was to name his sons after his father, grandfather etc. as was the Scotch-Irish tradition at the time so it makes sense to me that he would name his first-born with Nancy after his brother-in-law, Hamilton especially after I found the mysterious "Hambleton" on the tax list. I've already been in communication with the McAnallys and Wade. They probably think my conjecture has enough holes to drive trucks through but I am satisfied with my conclusions. I believe until disproven that "Hambleton" was David and Nancy's son and the Hamilton of Tom and Wade's line is the grandson. Notes for WINNY ANN SIMMONS: Winifred Ann Simmons married Hamilton McAnally 6 Feb 1842 in Claiborne County Tennessee. She was the daughter of John Wesley Simmons and Nancy Shipley. Winifred was born 14 April 1824 inSpringdale, Claiborne County TN and died 26 Feb 1857 in Webster County MO. She claimed to be a cousin of Jefferson Davis, Pres of the CSA, but we have no documentation. John Wesley Simmons was born 4 Oct 1805 in Claiborne Cy TN and died 4 Jul 1879 in the same county. Evidences can be found in Claiborne Cy tax lists, etc. He was son of John A. Simmons and Phoebe Clark. John Wesley Simmons and Nancy Shipley had 8 children: Winifred Ann (1824-1857) John Wesley Jr. (1826-1895) Elizabeth (1830- ?) Phoebe (1833-?) Edward (Ned) (1836-?) Nancy (1838-?) Isham (1840-?) Amanda (1842-?) The marriage ended in divorce abt 1855 John A. Simmons (abt 1770-abt 1846) lived in Bradley Cy. I'm afraid my information on the early years of Hamilton is too sketchy at this point to reach many conclusions. Someday I hope to clarify some of these relationships, but it's gonna be a while..... Regards, Wade Martin FROM TOM McANALLY In addition to Hamilton's father another mystery is what happened to Lucinda, Hamilton's sister.
