Co 21 Aug 1862. NFR
James' birth record says Daniel b. ca 1849, but Amanda b. 1884 say he was b.1846.

1880 census states that both parents were born in Virginia.

Joel Wesley Dowdy passed away, Alice was a widow, living in Clarkton, Dunklin
Co, Mo.

James' birth record says Alice b. ca 1840, but Amanda born 1884 says she was
b. ca 1856.

In 1910 Dunklin County, Missouri census, Alice M. Hill, enumerated with as a widow with sons, Don E. and Elvis Hill, and one daughter (possibly Amanda) born btn. 1885 - 1886.

The intervening years she was known to have been in Neosho, Newton County, Missouri and Clay County, Arkansas, where she was married on Christmas Day 1916.
