MCAVOY / MCEVOY / SIMPSON / MAHONEY / ALEXANDER / DONOVAN :
My father, John Richard "Mac" McAvoy (1925-2005), lived most of his life in Bucksport, Maine and Columbus, Ohio. His ancestors lived mainly in Bucksport/Bangor, Maine ; Blackville and Fred Jct, NB, Canada; Irelend; and Wilshire, England.

WEIN / HOUSTON / BROWN / WHALEN / ARCHER / DELANEY:
My mother, Mary Margaret "Sis: Wein (1925 - 1985), lived most of her life in Columbus, Ohio. Her ancestors lived mainly in: Columbus, Murray City and Pomeroy, OH; Pittsburgh, PA; Hartford City, WV; Ireland; England; Neulessheim, Baden, Germany. NOTE: Confirmed connection with Royal Families of Europe!!!

It will be several months before I have most of my research uploaded to this website. But this is a good start! In the meantime, feel free to contact me if you have specfic questions / corrections / additions.

    Here is the earliest picture we have so far of my grandmother, Emma.. probably taken about 1916.

    This is a great picture was of my gradparents taken in the 1940s in front of their Bucksport, Maine home.
  • WALSH- Margaret Walsh-Simpson- abt 1913 (3 KB)
    This is a precious picture of my Aunt Margaret as a very young girl playing in the yard. She was technically my 3rd cousin... but my great grandmother, her aunt, "adopted" Margaret when her mother died. So my grandmother, Grace Houston-Wein, thought of Margaret as a sister and my Mom called her Aunt Margaret... so we loved her as a dear Aunt.

    We don't have many pictures of my aunt, Mary Elizabeth "May" McAvoy- Goyner, she died relatively young. But this is a lovely picture of her in the 1940s. PS- This is my namesake, my father named me in honor of his oldest sister.

    This picture a picture of my great grandfather who was the father of Emma Mabel Simpson-McAvoy. This picture was likely taken around 1920.

    This is the only picture we have so far for my g-grandmother, Elizabeth Jane "Lizzie". We are not sure who the man in the picture is... maybe her father John C Alexander or a brother? If you know who it is... please send me an email!
  • Grandchildren of Conrad and Nora WEIN - abt 1916 (3 KB)
    I was told these were grandchildren of Conrad and Nora Wein and it was taken at their home in Murray City Ohio. The only identified child is the little girl in the middle with the black dress... she is Margaret Walsh-Simpson (Grace Houston-Wein's sister/cousin). If you know who the other children are... please email me with the names.
  • MCAVOY - Frank & John- abt 1928 (191 KB)
    This is a charming picture of the oldest and youngest sons of Patrick and Emma. There was 20 years difference in age. My father (John the youngest son) told me that some folks thought Frank was his father not his brother because they looked so much alike and the age difference! Of course that was not the case... but it is a funny family story.

    These men, Jerimiah and Michael, are brothers of my g-grandmother - Catherine Mahoney-McAvoy. The little girl in the front is Merle Mahoney and the other children are other Mahoney children. Thanks to Lawerence Donovan in Blackville for sharing this wonderful picture!

    John Douglas "Doug" McAvoy was Patrick and Emma's middle child who suffered from polio when he was very young. Everyone loved Doug.. he was gentleman with a fantastic sense of humor. ps: My brother is named after Doug but we call him John.

    What a wonderful photo of Patrick and Elizabeth's Children taken in Pittsburgh, PA. I have the names somewhere which I will add to this note later... so send me an email if you want to know where you ancestor is in this picture. My ancestor, Mary Whalen-Houston, is not in the picture as she was married and living in Cols Ohio. Thanks to cousin Mary Anne Whalen-Litz for sharing this a several other old Whalen family pictures!

    This is a precious picture of Fred and Grace's youngest children - Tom and Mary (Sis). This was taken at their Houston grandparent's house in downtown Columbus. I love this picture of my mom... and I see my youngest niece, Elizabth's, face when I look at this picture.

    This is a priceless picture of my Mom's grandparents... Conrad Wein & Nora Brown-Wein (right) and Joseph C Houston & Mary Whalen-Houston (left). This picture was taken on the joyous occassion of the wedding of David Frederich Wein to Mary Grace Houston-Wein in 1916. The little girl being held by Mary Whalen-Houston was her niece/adopted daughter, Margaret Walsh-Simpson. In fact, Margaret Walsh-Simpson passed a copy of this picture to me about 20 years ago. What an amazing gift she has given us all to treasure.

    This picture was taken in Pittsburgh in the late 1800s of my great-great grandmother. She was married to Patrick Whalen .. and her daughter, Mary Whalen married Joseph C Houston in 1885.

    This is a report that shows how the WEIN/BROWN side of my family is related to Europe Royalty. Our links to royalty go back even further to several other Kings/Queens, but I haven't loaded all of those to my family tree maker software yet. But on the "ancestry.com" tree you can see back further (ie: King William I of England, the first recognized King England as a whole, Anne of Russia, Kings of France, ect.).
