30. JOHN4 BRIER (DAVID3 MCBRAYER, WILLIAM2, FATHER '1ST GEN'1)38 was born Abt. 1781 in "Williamsburg", Hamilton Twp, Franklin Co., PA. He married DAMARIS WEST October 31, 1809 in Champaign Co., OH, daughter of BASIL WEST and PHOEBE STOCKETT. She was born in SC, and died 1830 in Champaign Co., OH.

He moved with his parents in about 1807 to the Mt. Pleasant Twp., Westmoreland Co., PA, but was in Champaign Co., OH, on 31 Oct 1809. John bought land in Warren Co., IN, on 2 Nov 1836, and on 24 Feb 1837 he sold land to his brother, Andrew Dickson Brier. He later moved to Brighton, IA.

31. DAVID4 BRIER II (DAVID3 MCBRAYER, WILLIAM2, FATHER '1ST GEN'1) was born Abt. 1783 in "Williamsburg", Hamilton Twp, Cumberland Co. (Franklin Co.), PA, and died February 25, 1842 in Warren Co., IN. He married ELIZABETH JACOBS January 27, 1820 in Miami Co., OH, daughter of MARK JACOBS and MARGARET SEACAT. She was born January 26, 1797 in Rockbridge Co., VA, and died February 10, 1833 in Warren Co., IN.

Notes for DAVID BRIER II:
He moved from Franklin to Westmoreland Co., PA, and eventually on to Ohio and Warren County, IN, where he died 25 Feb 1842 and was buried in the Fetterling Cemetery there.

He was a private in the War of 1812 in the Miami Co (Oh) Militia under Capt. SAMUEL STEELE's Company of Ohio Volunteers. He entered the volunteers on 15 Jul 1812 and was discharged on 15 Apr 1813.

He was primarily a farmer in Miami Co., but later was briefly engaged as a shoemaker in St. Louis, MO. On 20 Aug 1828 he was witness to a deed in Miami Co., and on 3 Sep 1831 he sold his Miami Co. land to JAMES SAFFORD. He entered 160 acres in Warren Co., IN, in 1830 and lived there until his death. His will is on record there. He received a land grant from US President ANDREW JACKSON, certificate number 16931, dated 1 May 1833, Crawfordville, IN, Land Office. In 1836 he was a voter in Pine Twp., Warren Co., and on 27 Nov 1832 he sold some land there to JOHN A. WEST.

32. ISAAC4 BRIER (DAVID3 MCBRAYER, WILLIAM2, FATHER '1ST GEN'1) was born June 29, 1787 in Franklin Co., PA, and died November 27, 1853 in Warren Co., IN. He married MARY 'POLLY' WEST October 31, 1809 in Pa or OH, daughter of BASIL WEST and PHOEBE STOCKETT. She was born November 11, 1794 in SC or NC39, and died March 13, 1868 in Warren Co., IN.

Notes for ISAAC BRIER:
He was possibly born at the "Greenhill" Farm of his parents located in Hamilton Twp., Franklin Co., PA. He moved with his parents in about 1807 to Westmoreland Co., PA, where they settled in the Mt. Pleasant Twp. area. By 1809 he was living in Jackson Twp., Champaign Co., OH. He was a Corporal in the Champaign County Militia in the War of 1812. In the 1820 census of Champaign Co. he was shown with three sons under 10 years of age and two daughters under 10.

Isaac moved to Liberty Twp., Warren Co., IN, in 1827; from 4 Dec 1832 through 5 Feb 1836 he was carried on the voter registration rolls in Pine Twp., Warren Co., where he was postmaster in the Warrentown Post Office. He had moved to Pine Twp in 1829-1830 when he received a government grant of 160 acres of land. He bought land on 3 Mar 1838 from Andrew Brier and on 5 Jun 1848 he sold land to his sons, George and Isaac Jr., in Montgomery Co. (later Warren Co.), IN.

The home he built in Pine Twp from wood lumbered from the land's native growth, including the walnut paneling, was still standing in 1956. In 1954 it passed from the family after 124 years. The original log house, built on the same land, was also still standing in 1956.

33. GEORGE4 BRIER (DAVID3 MCBRAYER, WILLIAM2, FATHER '1ST GEN'1) was born 1790 in Hamilton Twp, Franklin Co., PA, and died January 25, 1859 in Warren Co., IN. He married LETITIA MITCHELL April 28, 1814 in Miami Co., OH, daughter of SAMUEL MITCHELL and MALINDA ?. She was born November 25, 1792 in VA or OH, and died May 05, 1835 in Warren Co., IN.

Notes for GEORGE BRIER:
He was probably born on his father's home place of "Greenhills". He moved with his parents in about 1807 to Mt. Pleasant Twp., Westmoreland Co., PA. Indications are that he went with his older brothers to Ohio before 1810, as his father is listed as living in Westmoreland Co. in 1810 and having no children over the age of 16. On 5 Jun 1816 he bought lot #51, Piqua, Miami Co., OH, and on 17 Mar 1819 he sold this land to his older brother, James. On 5 Sep 1831 he was living in Clark Co., Ohio, when he sold an undivided half of his land in Miami Co. to his older brother, Andrew Jackson. He was a witness on a deed for his brother, David, in Miami Co., OH, on 3 Sep 1831. On 4 Sep 1834 he sold land in Warren Co., IN, to his son-in-law, Andrew Brier (son of Isaac). He built a carding mill on his land along Pine Creek in Warren Co., IN, and this building was still a landmark as late as 1956.
