57. THOMAS4 REID (ESTHER3 MCBRAYER, DAVID2, FATHER '1ST GEN'1) was born 1774 in Antrim Twp, Franklin, Pennsylvania, and died January 14, 1840. He married SARAH 'ELIZABETH' PEDEN March 10, 1807 in Strabane Twp, Adams, Pennsylvania, daughter of SAMUEL PEDEN and ELIZABETH MCBRAYER. She died April 05, 1849.

--Source 1 & 5; they resided in Freedom Twp., Adams Co., PA. They had one son and one daughter. The family attended the Marsh Creek Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, locally known as "The Hill Church" according to a list of members from 1815 prepared by Rev. Charles G. McLean; Thomas was a farmer in Liberty, (now Freedom) Twp., Adams Co., PA, living 3 miles north of Emmitsburg, MD; the spelling "Reed" is sometimes used by this family;

She was named as a widow in her mother's will. It is said they "resided near Centerville, Indiana Co., PA." (this is near where Martha's brother David was living). Birthplace assumed.

HOMAS NESBITT SLOAN:
He died as a result of an accident at his mill in which his arm was injured in the machinery. He before 24 Jul 1822, the date of his mother-in-law's will.

The Sloan's resided near Centerville, Indiana Co., PA. Thomas was a miller. The Sloan's had three children, all dead by 1903.
