Notes for THOMAS BARTON:
Born and remained in SC. The 1850 census of Greenville Co., SC, lists both of their ages as 73, and the 1860 census lists their ages as 82. Thomas' estate was appraised at $264.50 on April 1, 1863. Final settlement May 15, 1866, Pleasant Barton, Executor.
Thomas was buried in Glassy Mountain Cemetery, and his grave was mared with only tomb-rock, no name or date. It is just north of Pleasant's grave which is well marked. A marker was placed at Thomas' grave in 1965, courtesy of Tyger Baptist Church Barton Family Reunion.

Lived in the Tigerville, South Carolina, community. Land for Tyger Baptist Church was deeded to the church by Joseph. He was one of the first deacons of the church.

Notes for WILLOUGHBY BARTON:
Willoughby was born on the old Barton place on Tyger River, SC. Sarah is buried nearby in the Tyger Baptist Church Cemetery. Willoughby later, with several members of his family, moved to Arkansas. They settled in the vacinity of August, AR, prior to the Civil War. The party included Willoughby, his sons Riley and David and their families, Willoughby, Jr., and Tilman M., and daughters Sarah, Jane, Mary Ann and Sophronia.
