Updated October 25, 2010

McBean / MacBean / McBain / MacBain / McBayne / McBane etc. there are a variety of spelling variations for this name. I am also researching Cannem, Barber, Collins, Fraser, Sullivan, McLeod
STRAYS Project

I have information on several non related McBeans that I have collected during my search in the Canadian provinces of Manitoba, Ontario, and in Scotland that I call my stray file. I have lumped my strays together in one report below. If you have a link to any of them please drop me a note.

I have added additional information to my stray file. They comprise a number of new McBean Clan names that have a connection with Manitoba and other locations. I've also added my Nairnshire, Scotish Strays to this site even though they need more work to proof them.

Like many multi-generational Canadians my family line trace back to Ontario. My Great-grandfather Cyrus McBean moved to Winnipeg Manitoba during 1882/83. He was born in Ekfrid Township in Upper Canada or what is now the province of Ontario, Canada. As a young man he moved to join his brothers business in Toronto. His father was William McBean who emigrated from Nairn Scotland about 1830.

I have had many challenges following my lines as they have various spellings depending on who wrote them or who transcribed them. I am a member of the Clan McBean and will be sending my Strays information to the Clan MacBean Genealogist. The Clan McBean page"
