Donald McBain was born in the Inverness area around Loch Moy. He married Catherine McQueen, the daughter of James McQueen and Isobel McIntosh. They had one son, Donald, who went to Ordiquhill, and married Margaret Wilson. They moved to Buckie, where he was a Master Tailor for many years.
