Updated March 25, 2006

The Alexander/Davis/Ellenburg/McClain Families grew out from the Piedmont section of South Carolina. Some have grown therein.
Oldest known:

-Alexander is Daniel b. @1760 VA. m. Mary ?, d. October 29, 1850 in Pickens Co, SC. Decendants pretty well documented.

-Davis is Thornton, m. Mary Donaldson, dates unk., son Nimrod Cobert b. March 3, 1817, d. Feb. 10, 1904,all from Abbeville Co. Not well documented.

-Ellenburg is Martin B. @ 1805 Abbeville Co., SC, d. Sept. 1, 1883, m. Rebecca Collins @1829. Some holes, but pretty well documented.**Sure would like to trace Eli, father of Anthony. We have currently listed Waddy Ellenburg (and KNOWN bro. Luther)as ch of John Anthony, son of Martin. Recent finding of Death Certificate of Anthony (never known as John Anthony,but...same dates as John Anthony herein...?), KNOWN father of Waddy, shows Anthony's parents as Eli Ellenburg and Sallie Evett (Evatt?). This all in Pickens Co. As we said, this is a w.i.p.!**HELP!**

-McClain is John M. b.@1777 m. Mary Ann (Polly) McAdams 1806 d. April 19, 1863, in Abbeville Co., SC.

All are not sourced at this time (OK, I'm a name collector), but several of us are working on it.(Will list sources as they grow).

If you can help, or if we can help you, drop us a line.

***This is a "work in progress"!*** We will update info and sources as time permits.
