Notes for Jeremiah Daley: Jeremiah A. Daley (1841-1907), Dennis' oldest brother. According to the 1870 Fed. Census for Cohoes, he was born in Pennsylvania and was a carpenter by trade. His wife Mary (unfortunately no maiden name) is listed in the census as 30 yrs. of age, and three children are included as of that year: William, age 12; Margaret, age 7; and John, age 4.
Following is his obit in The Troy Times, September 4, 1907:
" (Cohoes) - The death of Jeremiah Daley, an old resident, occured this morning at his home, 29 Niver Street. He had been ill a long time. He was born in Ireland, but had been a resident of Cohoes for forty years. He is survived by his wife, two sons, John, of Chicago and William, of Schenectady; five daughters, Mrs. John Corr, Mrs. William Dotter, Mrs. James Foreman, Mrs. Joseph Reno and Mrs. Dennis Hogan, all of Cohoes; one brother, Dennis Daley of Northside, and three sisters, Mrs. Cornelius Houlihan of Chicago, Mrs. Clark of Green Island and Mrs. Michael McGuire of Cohoes."
As you can see, the obit alleges Jeremiah's birthplace as Ireland (the 1870 Census says Pennsylvania) - so who knows??? Just thought I'd give you both versions for the sake of completeness. He and Mary were married June 30, 1862 in Cohoes.
