Robert He nry Lucas Jr. (my father) met his father while on a trip for a family reunion when I was abou t 8 or 9 years old. They met at his father's farm gate. When the old man got to the gate, m y father said are you Robert Henry Lucas Sr.? He said yes I am in a very strong voice ( he w as in his 80's). My father said, Well, I am your son Robert Henry Lucas Jr. and put his han d out to shake his father's hand. The man called for his sister Mae and said "Mae come here" . We were introduced to my Aunt Mae a very big woman as all Lucas women are said to be. W e went in and talked and had a bowl of ice cream with our family. It was a nice visit. The i ce cream bothered "my grandfather" as he had asthma. He coughed and coughed. He seemed to b e a nice man and very happy to met his son and his family.
