My Mama and Dad did not tell us about their dates. Here is the Certificate of Marriage. THIS IS TO CERTIFY: "JASPER NEWTON BAILEY AND MARTHA AVARILLA HARBIN WERE UNITED BY ME IN HOLY MATRIMONY AT HARVEY McCORKLE ON THE 25Th DAY OF DEC 1899, IN THE PRESENCE OF MARSHAL FOWLER AND WILLIAM NATHAN BAILEY. / SIGNED, HARVEY MCCORKLE. THEREFORE, SHALL A MAN LEAVE HIS FATHER AND HIS MOTHER AND SHALL CLEAVE UNTO HIS WIFE AND THEY SHALL BE ONE FLESH (GEN 2:24). WHAT THEREFORE, GOD HATH JOINED TOGETHER, LET NO MAN PUT ASUNDER (MARK 10-9)" Sometime after Jasper and Martha Bailey married, they bought a farm from Mr. Mack and Alice Boyd. There was a Log House on the farm. In that house, six of my brothers and sisters were born. Then around 1910 or 1911, we built a new house. Then approximately 1910, Grandpa John and Grandma Rebecca Jane Bailey bought a farm from Mr. William Davis. It joined Jasper and Martha Bailey's farm. The Cypress Creek was between the farms. Grandpa John Bailey was originally from Georgia and I remember him talking a lot about the Georgia Stock Plow. I also remember him having a field of corn to lay by and he wanted me (Mom) to plant peas in the corn middles. He would stay with me to make sure that I did it right.
