This is the official homepage of The McCord Family Association (Clan McCord). Several McCord brothers from Northern Ireland came to America in 1720-1732 and settled in Pennsylvania, South Carolina, New York and Virginia. Ft. McCord near Chambersburg Pennsylvania (1756) is a historical landmark of the French and Indian War period built by William McCord, son of one of original 1720 McCord families. The Derry (now Hershey) Pennsylvania farm of David McCord (1714-1758)and the church he attended are also of that period, when four of his children were captured and held by the French and Indians from 1 to 3 years, and one of them was sent across the Atlantic as a prisoner to England and was among those exchanged for French prisoners. Over 60 of the McCords served in the American Revolution, one of the larger family groups in that service, and some of them fought with Washington at Valley Forge and at other major battles of the Revolution. By 1820 there were over 400 McCord families on the western frontier of America in NC, GA, SC, VA, Ohio, PA, TN, New England. Most of them appear related to common ancestors from 1720-1732 and earlier in Northern Ireland and Scotland. A recent book by Michael McCord gives much of the history of the McCords in Pennsylvania and later in part of Kentucky. Another book on the McCords is in process of completion, one by Judge Guyte McCord, son of pioneer McCord researcher, Mrs. Guyte McCord.
