Peter was born April 30, 1803 in Sussex County, NJ. His father died before his first birthday. He married Margaret Struble in 1825 in New Jersey and pioneered in Michigan in 1837 and in Kansas in 1855. He raised ten children. He had 4 older sisters and when his mother remarried John Willson, 3 more half sisters were added.
