I am researching various branches for my family and my husband's.   • The Howell and Mary Dodder Family 1913 (124 KB)
    This is a photo of them with their 9 children before the two boys died, Louis and James. The surviving children were Rachel, Martha, Marguerite, Leah, Jacob, Albert and Helen.
  • Harold 'Wert' Wertenberger-National Guard (3 KB)
    This is a picture of dad when he was in the Arizona National Guard. He really enjoyed it! He is in his 20's. In the 50's.
  • Octava & Phebe Wharton with Mary Culver (80 KB)
    Wharton sisters Octava [?] and Phoebe who married John Culver and her daughter Mary Virginia age 3 taken about 1872
  • Peter Henry Dodder born 1803 NJ died 1875 KS (83 KB)
    Peter was born April 30, 1803 in Sussex County, NJ. His father died before his first birthday. He married Margaret Struble in 1825 in New Jersey and pioneered in Michigan in 1837 and in Kansas in 1855. He raised ten children. He had 4 older sisters and when his mother remarried John Willson, 3 more half sisters were added.

  • George Orville Bassett born 1851 died 1899 (22 KB)
    This is a 'young' George. He was born in NYC and died in Michigan. He married Mariah Jane Chase [Scrivener] and had two girls. He was my 3rd great grandfather. He died of Pneumonia at age 48.
  • Mary Bassett and Howell Dodder - Wedding Day (262 KB)
    Their wedding was on March 20, 1895. They had nine children. One daughter was born with a complete cleft lip and palate and two of their sons died as toddlers. That would have been a heavy load to carry!
  • Ollie F. Culver with John P. and Emaline Culver (95 KB)
    Ollie was raised by his grandfather and step grandmother Culver pictured. They lived in West Virginia. Ollie was born in 1887 and served in the Army from 1906 to 1940, was an ROTC instructor, chief guard at the airport WWII and a WV State Trooper. He married Leah Dodder and they raised seven children. They retired in Arizona.
  • Sarah Mann and Jacob Dodder - Wedding 1854 (432 KB)
    Jacob and Sarah were married September 27, 1854, in Holly, Michigan. They had ten children. Jacob owned about 500 acres in Argentine, Michigan.
  • Daniel Riley McCarty (17 KB)
    He was known as Den McCarty. He was, I think, a section foreman for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe railroad. Born June 8, 1880 m. Mary E. Gamble. Children Hubbard, Dorsey, Charles Bruce, Herbert, Joe.
  • Jacob Wertenberger and Mary Brumbaugh-Wedding (28 KB)
    This is taken from an old tin type. It was from their wedding day, October 13, 1867. Jacob was a farmer, and they were members of the German Baptist (Dunkard) Church. Data on their five children was extracted by Mary Jane (Wertenberger) Hope from THE BRUMBAGH FAMILY by Melvin B. Summers, a compilation of family records, found in the Canton, Ohio Library. He and Mary are buried in Henry Warstler's Cemetary across from the Holy Trinity church (Henry's) on Middlebranch and 55th in North Canton, Ohio. They lived on West Howell Road in Brimfield, Ohio.
  • Frank and Susan Eisenzimmer Marker (140 KB)
    This was taken on their farm.
  • The Riemenschneider family circa 1900 (79 KB)
    Eva Wiseman Riemenschneider the mother in the picture remained in Germany. Her husband George was a sculpture who died young. Pictured is Elizabeth, Gretchen, Katherine and Jacob. George the II came to America as an indentured servent [as a butcher]and eventually got his sister Katherane and Jacob to come over also. They lived in Ohio and during the depression most of their children and families survived by living on their 80+ acre farm.

    Mary married Howell Dodder. This must have been about 1876 or 1877.

    This photo was taken just before Frank was going into the army in WW I. Back Row L ot R - Peter, Milton, John Norman, William, Thurman Middle Row - Florence, William Alford, Della, Valvan Front Row - Abraham, Frank, Deacher Thomas Jefferson and Rosa were not in the picture
  • Mary and Eva Bassett (21 KB)
    These are the only two children of George Orville Bassett and Mary Jane Chase c:1881
  • Harold Wertenberger and Betty Culver Graduation (30 KB)
    They both graduated in 1951. The parents of 5 children, Michael, Janice, Sharon, Buck and Barbara
  • Will, Eva Scrivener & Jane Chase Bassett Scrivener (66 KB)
    7-12-1915 Will & Eva Scrivener & Jane Chase Bassett Scrivener at Jane's house that she bought with the money her son was given for his service in the Civil War. He was crippled and served as a drummer boy. He was wounded and died. Eva was Jane's daughter from her first marriage.

  • The DeMoss Family (27 KB)
    LOUIS DEMUS had a son Louis who was born in France and came to America settled on Deer Creek which enters present day Harford County at its northwest corner, meanders southeast about 5 to 10 miles and then runs east across the county until it empties into the Susquehanna River. Their land was on the south side of Deer Creek at the conjunctions of Stout Bottle Branch, or Bottle Stout Branch, depending upon which deed you read. He called it Frenchman's repose. He was a Huguenot. All info on the first few generations of Demoss's came from the book assembled by Jo Ann Robertson Hornby of Wichita, Kansas. It is a wonderful book and well documented! His will is included.....They had ten children that we know of.

  • Descendents of John Peter Bernhardt (85 KB)
    This file shows the first three generations of Grandparent Bernhardt. John immigrated to America in 1731 and lived in Philadelphia first, until 1742, then moved to Stillwater, NJ, which was a wilderness. He settled on the Tehoenetcong or Paulinskill near Stillwater. He purchased three farms for his three daughters. He died in 1748 and his is the first interment in the old graveyard there, Old Stillwater Cemetery, the first buried there on the land he had donated.
