"Pat" Meehan Dies Monday Of Heart Attack.
Was One Of First Businessmen In Village, Here 63 Years.
The following article is gleaned from a Blooming Prairie, Minn., newspaper relative to the death of Patrick Meehan, who died on May 5th. Mr. Meehan was a brother of the late Mrs. Hugh Lavery, of Chateaugay, and an uncle of Mrs. Daniel Flynn, of Burke, Mrs. W. E. Lefebvre, of Huntingdon, Mrs. George Murphy, of Ormstown, Que., Mrs. Bernard Phillips and Mrs. Hubert Denesha, of Syracuse.
Patrick Meehan, 85, prominent retired business man and one of this community's oldest citizens died on Monday afternoon, May 5th, at his home here.
His death followed a heart attack suffered Wednesday of last week. He had been confined to his home since last Wednesday, but his condition had not been considered extremely serious.
Funeral services were held here Wednesday morning at St. Columbanus Catholic church where the Rev. Father Paul A. Colbert, of Incarnation church, Minneapolis, read the requiem mass. Father Colbert is a brother-in-law of Mrs. John Colbert, daughter of Mr. Meehan. The Rev. Father J. V. Donovan, gave the sermon. Hundreds of friends and neighbors attended the funeral to pay tribute to one of Blooming Prairie's leading citizens and one of its first business men. Interment was made in the cemetery here.
Mr. Meehan was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Meehan and was born in Franklin Center, Quebec April 11, 1856.
At the age of 20 he came to Iowa where he became interested in caring for horses and obtained employment in that line of work. A year later he came to Claremont, Minn. where he cared for a string of horses. In 1873, 63 years ago, Mr. Meehan moved to Blooming Prairie where he became a widely known livestock buyer in partnership with the late Tom Barry. In addition to buying livestock, Mr. Meehan conducted a livery stable and farmed for a short time. He was married to Miss Sarah Almond, of Fort Covington after coming to Minnesota Mrs. Meehan passed away in 1914.
For a number of years after becoming established in business Mr. Meehan served the village as mayor. He always maintained a active interest in civic affairs and all community activities. Mr. Meehan remarried in 1919. Surviving are Mrs. Meehan and five children by his first marriage. Mr. Meehan was the last member of a family of ten children. His last brother, Felix, died at the family homestead in Franklin Center, Que., in 1937.
A large number of friends and admirers from Minneapolis, St. Paul, Albert Lea, Claremont and other distant points, attended the funeral.
Mr. Meehan's passing has taken one of Blooming Prairie's most colorful figures. "Pat", as he was known to all, was a daily visitor in the business district and he took a keen interest in all village community affairs. He was a man well posted in current events and was regarded as an influential man in political circles in this area. As one of the first business men to come to Blooming Prairie, when the village was but a country crossroads, Mr. Meehan's aggressiveness and activity had much to do with the up building of this town. His death is mourned by all who knew and admired his gallant nature.

He married (1) Margaret Leahy44 September 20, 1869 in St-Patrice de Hinchinbrooke, Quebec, Canada, daughter of Michael Lahey and Rose McDonaugh. She was born February 2, 1842 in Canada45,46, and died March 21, 187547. He married (2) Rosetta O'Meara48,49 February 26, 1877 in St-Patrice de Hinchinbrooke, Quebec, Canada. She was born 184550,51, and died May 28, 1924 in Hinchinbrook, PQ, Canada52.

Miss Mary McCormick Dies At Hinchinbrook, Que.
The community was greatly shocked on Monday, February 12th to learn of the sudden passing of Miss Mary McCormick, which occured at 2:20 o'clock at the home of her brother, Felix McCormick, in Brooklet.
Miss McCormick was born in Hinchinbrook, 67 years ago, a daughter of the late John and Rose (O'Meara) McCormick. She was educated in the local schools and always made her home at the homestead where she died.
Miss McCormick possessed a quiet and sterling character, was one who always had a kind word for everyone and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by two brothers, John, of Chateaugay; and Felix, of Hinchinbrook' one sister-in-law, Mrs. W. D. McCormick, of Huntingdon, Que., besides numerous nenphews and nieces.
Mass was celebrated in St. Patrick's church, at Hinchinbrook, of which she was a life long menber, and interment took place in St. Joseph's cemetery at Huntingdon.
Those who attended the funeral from a distance were: Mrs. Philip Hubbard, Mr. and Mrs. John Roulston, Messrs. David and Arthur Healey, Leo, John, Charles, Peter and Earl McCormick, of Chateaugay; Mr. and Mrs. Clifford McCormick of Saranac Lake; Miss Florence McCormick, of Lake Placid; Hugh McCann, of Clinton; Messrs. Gerald McCormick, Keegan and P. Ouimet, of Ormstown - Huntingdon Gleaner, February 21, 1945.

Mrs. Peter Ouimette
The death of Mrs. Peter Ouimette which occurred at her home in Ormstown, Que., on Friday, June 11th, is deeply regretted by relatives and many dear friends of this estimable lady.
The deceased, whose maiden name was Margaret McCormick, was a native of Hinchinbrook, and was known as a kind friend and neighbor.
She is survived by her husband, one sister, Miss Mary McCormick, of Hinchinbrook, three brothers, William McCormick, of Huntingdon, Felix McCormick, of Hinchinbrook, and John McCormick, of Chateaugay.
Funeral services and burial took place in Ormstown on June 14th.

William D. McCormick
William D. McCormick died at his home in Huntingdon on Tuesday July 11th, after a long illness.
The deceased was born in Hinchinbrook, Que., 55 years ago a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John McCormick. For a time he conducted a store on the International line northeast of this village. He also conducted a retail store and was postmaster at White's Station, Que. Nine years ago Mr. McCormick retired from active business and moved to Huntingdon, where he proved to be one of its most valued citizens, being an alderman and valuator and gave generous assistance to the Council.
He was regarded ah an honorable worthy citizen, being sympathetic, ever considerate and thoughtful of the young and old and most charitable to the needy.
Thirty years ago Mr. McCormick was united in marriage to Miss Lucy McHardy, daughter of Charles McHardy, of Athelstan, and to mourn his loss are his widow, one sister, Miss Mary McCormick of Hinchinbrook and two half-brothers, John of Chateaugay, and Felix, of Hinchinbrook, Que.
