1. Alexander¹ McCoy was born Abt. 1770 in Ireland, and died Abt. 1841 in Brown Co., IL (?)¹. He married (2) Hannah McCullough March 16, 1796 in Cecil Co., MD ².

Notes for Alexander McCoy:
Brown Co., IL histories indicate Alexander McCoy spent his last years in IL.
However, Ohio Wills & Estates to 1850/Carol Willsey Bell/1981 notes reference
to an Alexander McCoy will dated 1841 in the Admin. & Estates Docket of Adams
Co., OH, p. 14, case # 56. Co. hist. says b. N.Ire, came to US as a teen to
join parents here, had 2 wives in MD, lost both, then to Adams Co.,OH. Names
in later generations suggest he was actually John Alexander McCoy, perhaps
the John McCoy p. 28 1810 census Cecil Co., MD?

Notes for Hannah McCullough:
Hannah is identified as the mother of Samuel McCoy on the basis of the
names of Samuel's children -- first son and second daughter are named after
Samuel's wife's parents, therefore we expect his first daughter and second
son to be named after his own parents, who would thus be Hannah McCullough
and John Alexander McCoy. The marriage record is tentatively accepted as
being from the right county, the right time frame, and "Cay?" is plausibly
some derivative of McCoy. Original record must be examined.
