1. County histories imply that Alexander spent his last days in Brown Co., IL, but there is a published record of an Alexander McCoy estate, George McCoy executor, on Adams Co. OH docket 12aug1841 (volume now lost???).

12. Brown Co. marriage records Book A #313 has George McCoy m. Nancy Wheeler. This would account for parentage of Alexander McCoy b. 1847, the date of same, and the fact that he is being cared for by Minerva Wheeler Draper 1850.
13. this is the Alexander found living with A. D. Draper and Minerva Wheeler Draper in 1850 census of Brown Co., IL (#600). There is also a Sidney McCoy b. 1849 IL, of whom no further record.
14. This is believed to be the "Alexander McCoy, Jr." who died intestate in Brown Co., IL in 1866. Hiers-at-law are easily explained IF he is the son of George and Nancy Wheeler McCoy, both deceased at that time.

29. Likely married in Adams Co., OH, where records later than 1833 were lost in a courthouse fire. Emily Hemphill is likely related to Rachel Hemphill who m. John Morrison and moved to Shelby Co., IL -- where Alexander later lived.
30. Brown Co. marriage records Book A, #400. As the marriage is in 1847, after the birthdates of the first 7 children listed in the 1850 census, they are assumed to belong to his first wife, Emily Hemphill.
31. Assumed to have married in Brown Co., IL, because Hist. Shelby & Moultrie Cos., IL indicates they settled in Shelby Co., IL in 1864. She is mentioned in a Brown Co., IL deed on 09apr1862.
32. Parents b. MD and Ohio acc. to 1880 census. This seems to indicate he is the same James McCoy who is listed as son of Alexander McCoy Jr. in 1850 (age 8) and 1860 (age 20) censuses.

43. some confusion over this person, since one record seems to indicate Mary as the daughter of Samuel McCoy. But marriage record is clear. Therefore, there must be another daughter. BD from 1900 census.

45. The name is very hard to read in the 1850 census -- could be Elervin. In 1860, it appears to be Ewing. Identified with the Ewing H. Elliott bur. in Mounds Cem., where his parents lived.
