Notes for Elizabeth Abel: OBITUARY ELISABETH WIEGNER ELISABETH WIEGNER widow of the late Philip Wiegner with whom she had joined in the holy bonds of wedlock for 38 years. Mrs. Elisabeth Wiegner was born on the 14th day of May 1849 in West Point, Lee County, Iowa as the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Abel, Sr. Having been baptized in the Evangelical Church in Franklin, Iowa, she received additional religious instruction and was confirmed by Rev. Braschler on Palm Sunday 1863. On the 29th day of February 1873 she was married to Philip Wiegner. As a true and faithful helpmate she shared with her husband, in a true Christian spirit all the joys and all the hardships of a family life on a farm. Three children were born to their union, one of them a girl, preceded the mother to the grave. On April 29th 1911, her husband was also taken from her side. Mrs. Wiegner was an earnest Christian, being a faithful member of St. Peter's Evangelical church , Franklin, Iowa all her life. For more than a year, Mrs. Wiegner had been ailing, but in a truly Christian spirit she bore her burdens and endured her pains, lifting up her eyes to the Lord from whence her help and strength and comfort came until death relieved her on Monday afternoon, March 13, 1916. She attained the age of 68 years, 9 months and 29 days. The following are left to mourn her loss; Her 2 children, Mr. Alfred Wiegner, Mr. George Wiegner, 3 brothers, Mr. David, Theodore and Henry Abel, 1 daughter-in-law, Mrs. Alfred Wiegner, and two grandchildren besides a large circle of other relatives and friends. The funeral services at home and in the St. Paul's Evangelical church, Donnellson, Iowa on March 15th, 1916. The remains were laid to rest at the St. Peter's cemetery, Franklin, Iowa.
