Notes for Henry Jr Abel: OBITUARY HENRY ABEL HENRY ABEL was born March 27, 1853, in Franklin township, Lee County, Iowa. His parents were Henry and Christine Abel, whose maiden name was Fett. He was baptized and confirmed in the Franklin Evangelical Church. On February 13, 1879, he was united in marriage to Miss Lena Manny, the ceremony being preformed by Rev. Robert Ruegg, at the home of the brides's parents in Jefferson township. For fifteen years Mr. and Mrs. Abel made their home on a farm south of Warren. Three children, Henry, Mary Clara and Herbert Edgar, died in early childhood. In 1894, Mr. and Mrs. Abel moved to Donnellson, where they enjoyed the love and respect of many friends. The last four months were months of suffering, which Mr. Abel bore in patience and Christian faith. He departed this life peacefully, on March 9, 1928, at 2:30 in the afternoon, at the age of 74 years. His death is mourned by his bereaved wife, Mrs. Lena Abel, two brothers, David and Theodore, one brother and one sister having preceded him in death. His death is furthermore mourned by 28 nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the St. Paul Evangelical Church Monday afternoon, following a short service at the home on North Main Street, the services being conducted by the pastor, Theophil Stoecker. Interment was in the Evangelical cemetery north of town.
