HOMPSON EUGENE MCCLURE:
Another of the long time residents of the East Liberty neighborhood, north of Malvern, died last week as T.E. McClure, 73, passed away at his home in Malvern after an illness of several weeks. Funeral services were held Monday at the Mansfield Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. H.G. Parker of Glenwood and assisted by Rev. Glenn W. South. A large number of former neighbors and friends attended the last rites as Mr. McClure had gained a host of friends during his long residence in Mills County. Music for the services was furnished by Marlin Richardson, who was accompanied by Sarah Rose. Pall bearers were Clyde Jackson, Ivan Jackson, Mark Johnson, Glenn McClure, Harley McClure and Loren McClure. Mrs. Dorothy Thompson and Thelma and Neva McClure cared for the flowers. Rev. Smith read the following life sketch of Mr. McClure: "Thompson Eugene McClure, son of Mr. and Mrs. John McClure, was born in Marion County, Iowa, June 14, 1868. When he was 13 years of age, he came with the family to Mills County. One year later, in 1882, his parents purchased a farm east of Silver City. There he grew to manhood. Mr. McClure was united in marriage with Martha Jane Schroeder, January 25, 1893. To this union were born three children, a daughter and two sons. The daughter died in infancy. The two sons are Roy Earl and Dale Henry of Malvern. There are seven grandchildren. Two brothers and two sisters also survive, Robert of Council Bluffs, John of Colorado Springs, Colo., Mrs. Mina McFall of Malvern and Mrs. Stella Johnson of Gordon, Neb.

Mr. and Mrs. McClure lived for number of years on the home farm. Later, they purchased the Will Francis farm southeast of Silver City, where they continued to reside until the death of Mrs. McClure, which occurred August 4, 1937. Retiring from the farm, Mr. McClure made his home in Malvern. As an avocation, he followed the carpenter trade. His last work in that respect was accomplished in the building of a garage at his home in Malvern. On November 26, 1940, he was united in holy wedlock with Sarah Seaton of Malvern, where they continued to live until the passing of Mr. McClure, which occured Friday morning, February 27, 1942.

Mr. McClure was a home lover and a home builder. His chief interest centered there. He, in turn, was loved by all members of his family. He was a good neighbor and a true friend. His recent illness, covering a period of about six weeks, manifested itself in a heart attack. He was taken to Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs. Two weeks ago, he was brought back to his home in Malvern. The loving wife and faithful sons did all that was humanly possible to do, but the end came in a very peaceful way. Years ago, Mr. McClure became a member of the baptist church at Silver City, which relationship he maintained until his death. He will be greatly missed by the loving wife, the sons and all other relatives and friends, but they will take comfort in the thought that he is at rest."

Burial was at Silver City.
