Find Family

The Patricia McCoy Family Home Page of the D.C. Metro Area

Updated April 26, 2009

My name is Pat McCoy and I have been researching since 1997.

I am currently attempting to trace the family
tree(s)of the following names:

Hannah McCOY, mother of Sibby M. McCOY and Benjamin M. McCOY. Hannah may have been freed from slavery on 31, December, 1801
by a writ of manumission from a John WREN in Fairfax County, Virginia.

Benjamin M. McCOY was married to Ann Eliza/Eliza Ann DUDLEY
on January 2, 1851 probably in Washington, DC.

Ann Eliza/Eliza Ann DUDLEY
needs to have her family tree
filled in. She may have
been born in Virginia but
I have absolutely no other
information on her family of
origin.

The approximate birthdate for Benjamin M. McCOY
is December 5, 1810 probably in Washington DC.
He died May 30, 1884 in Washington, DC.

George William/Dudley McCOY born
on December 27, 1859 in Washington, DC
and died December 11, 1932 in Washington, DC.

He was married to Amanda Estelle PINDELL,
daughter of Lewis Henry PINDELL
and Amanda May CHURCH. Amanda Estelle was
born September 9, 1870 in Baltimore, Maryland
and died February 7, 1932 in Washington, DC.
They had one child who survived to adulthood:
George Dudley McCOY.

George Dudley McCOY born March 25, 1897
in Washington, DC and died October 18, 1956
in Washington, DC.
He was married to Louise Adeline WATERHOLTER.

In addition, I need to find more information
on the following branches of the
Benjamin M. McCOY descendants:

Mary Edith McCOY who married John J. JACKSON around 1879.

Their children:

Adalina G. JACKSON, (died at the age of 17),
Mayme/Mamie JACKSON-HENDERSON and
Lavinia JACKSON (who married someone with the last name of JORDAN).

(I need to find the whereabouts of:

Mayme/Mamie JACKSON-HENDERSON
and her husband,(Unknown) HENDERSON.)

Rachel A. R. McCOY who married
John Augustus HANSON (marriage date unknown).
They had the following children:

Augustus McCoy HANSON [attorney],
Benjamin McCoy HANSON,[occupation unknown]
George A. F. HANSON [musician],
Jesse McCoy HANSON,[multiple occupations]
Czarina HANSON,[occupation unknown]
Bertha E. HANSON-HECTON-KEY.
(Any information on First husband A.A. HECTON
and Second Husband KEY are unknown.)

Hannah A. B. McCOY who married
John W. HAMILTON (marriage date unknown).

Their daughter:

Ollie/Olie Beatrice HAMILTON
(who married an unknown person
with the last name of POWELL
on an unknown date).

I'm also attempting to locate
information on a cousin named:

Raymond E. RICE

He lived with my McCOY grandparents,
in Washington, DC in 1920 when he
was approximately 16 years old.
Family legend has it that he worked
as a horse jockey during his lifetime.
According to the 1920 Census,
he worked as a messenger for Western Union.
(It appears that Family Legend
is NOT supported by documented fact.)

In addition, if anyone is also
researching the WATERHOLTERs
and the Andrew F. FERGUSONs,
my maternal lines are from that branch.

I have some information on the
three Frederick William WATERHOLTERs
who were born in America and
Friedrich Wilhelm WATERHOELTER,
who was born in 1835, emigrated
from Wissentrup, Germany to Baltimore,
Maryland in 1849 and married Jeannette TONE
in 1856. Jeannette TONE-WATERHOELTER
also married Maximillian Hermann LAUTEN.
Her daughter, Ottilla LAUTEN later married
Christian STEGEMERTEN. I'm still researching
those branches of the family.

Jeannette TONE's ancestry is still a mystery.
