This is the embryonic home-page of Phil & Mary-Clare McCarthy, and our children Simon, Rory & Karena. We are researching several family lines. I'd be delighted to receive, or to share, information regarding any of them.
You can view our family tree on line, without the living identified, at http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=philmc
McCarthy: Phil's Great Grandfather Charles McCarthy emigrated to Napier, New Zealand in 1877 from the townland of Kilbarry in the Parish of Dunmanway, Co Cork, Ireland. His parents were Eugene and Catherine (nee McCarthy). I am aware, from visiting the Kilbarry graveyard, that many other Kilbarry McCarthys emigrated, though many to the USA and I have yet to trace any. I have some information - particularly McCarthy Kilbarry baptisms - from the parish registers which I would be prepared to look up.
Nicholls: My Grandfather Giffard emigrated to New Zealand, from Olton, nr Birmingham, Warwickshire UK around the turn of the century, along with brothers Stanley and Erskine (Ernie). Their parents were William Godwin Nicholls, who may have been a dentist, and Annie Allen. There may have been a fourth brother, Kinglsey Nicholls.
Cremin: Bothers Denis and Phil Cremin emigrated to New Zealand in 1879 from the townland of Gortnagaun (aka Gortnagane) in the parish of Rathmore, near Killarney, County Kerry. Their parents were John "Crimmin" and Catherine Crowley. Other siblings apparently John (b 1859), Timothy (b 1863) and Mary (b 1861). Deis settled in waimate, south canterbury and has many descendants. Phil's fate is unknowm, though their is a family oral traidition that he re-emigrated to Australia.
