I am researching the family of my great-grandfather, Thomas McConn.Thomas was born in WV in 1828 and died in Illinois on March 31, 1903.Thomas married Elizabeth Barr(who was born in OH on Nov. 8, 1831) on April 13, 1848 before Justice of the Peace, John Sutherland, in West Alexander, PA.Elizabeth died in Monica, IL on Feb. 10, 1902.Their first child, Mary C. was born in VA(WV) in 1851.Then came Isaac N. born in OH on July 22, 1854. The family then migrated to Illinois where the following children were born:Emma A. born March 8, 1858, Ida M. born Sept. 23, 1860, Laura B. born Oct. 8, 1863, Sherman born 1866, Frank M. born March 11, 1869, Willis C. born Nov. 16, 1872, Elizabeth D. born Dec. 11, 1876. It appears that the family lived in the village of Wyoming, Stark County, Illinois where the children grew to adulthood. In approx. 1892 the family moved to the villiage of Monica, Peoria County, Illinois. I am searching for information with reference to the parents of Thomas whom I have reason to believe lived in the West Alexander, PA area.I am also looking for any information with reference to his wife, Elizabeth Barr, who was born in OH (probably in a neighboring county).I note that Elizabeth was 16 1/2 years of age when they were married in West Alexander, PA. I am also interested in other great-grandparents, namely, Michael Wiar and his wife, Mariel Harlan who most likely lived inthe Peoria, Illinois area in the middle to late 1800's. Further information on this and others in my line can be found on World Family Tree Volume 15, Tree #2125. Update 11/26/2004: I have located my g-g grandfather Thomas McConn and his wife Elizabeth (Barr) McConn in the 1850 census of Marshall County, 33rd District, West Virginia. They are living next door to (or with) Elizabeth's father and mother, Alexander and Nancy Barr. In this 1850 census, they had a son, William, who does not appear with the family in the 1860 census in Illinois. As noted above, they had a child, Mary, who was born in West Virgina in 1851.They appear to have spent some time in Ohio on their way to Illinois for their son, Isaac, was born in Ohio in 1854.There is a William McConn buried in the Dalles Presbyterian Church cemetery in Dalles, West Virgina with no dates listed. This cemetery is abandoned in in very bad shape.I now believe that their son William probably died there before the family moved on the Ohio and thence to Illinois. I still have nothing on the parents this Thomas McConn and would sure appreciate any ideas or information on just where I might find some leads.I am about out of ideas. Thanks, Bob McConn (75 yrs young and counting).
