Notes for Clyde Elliot McDannald: Dr. Clyde E. McDannald, an ophthalmologist in New York City for nearly 50 years, was born in Warm Springs, the eldest son of John Pettus McDannald and Sarah McClintic. He was a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and the Medical College of Virginia, served an internship at a Virginia hospital, and went to New York in 1900. He served on the staffs on Metropolitan, Bloomingdale and the New York Lying-In hospitals. In 1905 he joined the staff of the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, serving on both services, and was actively associated with this hospital for the remainder of his career, as ophthalmic surgeon and later as honorary surgeon. At the time of his death at age 73, August 13, 1949, he was survived by his wife Evelyn Tunison McDannald, a son, Clyde E.
