Hi, my name is Chris McDonald and I'm searching around for my family's roots. I think we have a mixed bag (and a few old bags) of family names and roots. I got started on this from the movie Braveheart (quit smirking). I never was a history buff but after that I became interested in Scotland's history because the paternal side of my family started there. I left the theater thinking it would really be nice to know if my family was part of the fight for freedom (my English grandmother is just rolling in her grave). Well, the Smiths did fight with Wallace (that was probably us on the front line with our kilts over our heads....we always were a cheeky bunch) and it seems that my great grandparents were from the same area! Sadly, no one in my family looks like Mel Gibson, but there is time to improve on that situation.
Now, my GF SMITH, Edward Perritt, said he was raised in a "castle" in Scotland and had servants and the whole thing. His mother was supposedly Spanish and married my GGF, SMITH, Richard Henry, when he was traveling. Well, GGF Smith died, his family threw her out in the cold with my little GF and the story kind of is up in the air at that place in time. The next thing I know, he turns up in Wigand England where he married my gm O'BRIAN, ANNIE in 1910.

So, my tree (broken branches and all) include SMITHS (believed to originate in Glasgow, SIMPSON (Glasgow), O'BRIAN (Ireland and England), BRENNAN, O'KEEFE, DIETRICH, DOSTER, HOLLAND, RITCHEY, and my dog Ozzy (The Oz)who would like to start his own tree, but that's for another day. I will bring my page up to date with better information, but I didn't know I had to get this thing started right now.

I heard a quote a long time ago that goes something like, "When we are forgotten, we cease to exit." May that never happen to us.
