We're researching McDerments and MacDonalds. From the latter I'm particularly interested in an Alan MacDonald of ClanRanald who was apparently "out" in the 1745 Rebellion. He was possibly from South Uist or Benbecula and after Culloden he turned up in North Uist. I can trace the family back to his (possible) son called Angus, or he may have been an illegitimate grandson by an unknown daughter of Alan's. Unfortunately the trail goes cold there but I would love to find out more about the mysterious Alan. Is there anyone out there with a similar family tradition who may have a missing piece of my puzzle? |
