I am researching the McDonald family who is currently living in Souris, ND. My grandfather, Ernest McDonald, was born on January 07, 1896 and married Julia Sandstel on January 21, 1918. Julia was born on December 14, 1893 to Nels Jonas Sandstol (born in Norway on April 9, 1862) and Valborg Leeland, also born in Norway on October 17, 1865. Ernie and Julia had five children: Vivian, Leona, Arlene, Wallace, and Harvey.
Ernest's father was William (Bill) McDonald who lived in Illinois, Canada, and Sarles, ND before moving to Souris, North Dakota. William died around 1929 in Souris. It is believed that William's wife's name was Eva.

I am attempting to trace back the McDonald side and any information concerning William McDonald would be appreciated.
