I am researching the Thorton Harvey Sr. family. He first appeared in Grapeland(Houston county)Texas in the early 1800, the death certificate states he was from Alabama. It was told by many that he fought for the North during the Civil War. He settled in th Reynard community, known as the Mt. Zion community, eleven miles West of Grapeland near the Old Meriweather Cemetery, nothing else is note of his life before he came to Grapeland. He married Elsie Bagin, from soemwhere in Texas, nothing else is note about her. To this union five children were born. James (Jim)Joliver Harvey, Rev. Roy Harvey, Thorton Harvey Jr. Mabel and Beatrice Harvey. |
