My wife, Andrea & I are new to online genealogy but both of us are researching our respective family lines, as indicated below:
Andrea (Ksenak) McDermott is from Ithaca, NY and her Ksenak grandparents came to the region from Maly Lipnik and Granastov in Slovakia. There is evidence that the name was anglicized as her grandfather, Joseph Ksenak was processed through Ellis Island. Of particular interest is pinning down information on her great grandfather, George J. Kenyon and great great grandfather, Nathanial S. Kenyon. The Kenyon family seems to have moved back and forth between Central/Western NY and MI in the 1800's. A GAR marker on George Kenyon's grave indicates that he was a Union army soldier, but we have been unable to find any reference to him in either NY or MI regiments, nor have we been able to pin him down through service records, etc. Any help with George would be MUCH appreciated. Also appreciate any info on the following surnames:

Ksenak (also Ksenyak, Kseniak - Origin Slovakia)
Kenyon (NY & MI)
Risdon (NY & MI)
Brown (NY & MI)

I (Bob McDermott)am from Southeast TX and most of my father's folks are from Cameron (Milam County) in Central TX. My mother's folks are from Southeast TX and Oklahoma. I am interested in any of the surnames listed below, but would especially appreciate any information on my Hayes line which are reputed to be Choctaw. My great grandfather was born in TN in 1859 and his occupation was listed as railroad laborer. His father was allegedly a Choctaw named Great Bear Hayes, but I have absolutely no leads or confirmation on this. Another sticking point is James Thomas or Thompson Houston who moved to Milam Co. TX from either NC or Eastern TN around 1850-1852. J.T. Houston married Ann J. Henderson in Mechlenburg Co. NC in 1840, but the latest information I have is that the family actually lived (and came to TX from) East TN. Again, any leads appreciated. I would also appreciate info on any of the following names:

McDermott (TX, AL & Ireland)
Bollinger (TX, MO, PA & Switzerland)
Barnett (TX, MS)
Houston (TX, TN, & NC)
Hay (AL, NC, SC, GA)
Henderson (TN, NC)
Campbell (TN)
Wohraber (PA, Switzerland
Brown (TX)
Hayes (TX, OK, TN)
West (OK)
McCabe (TX)
Price (TX)

We're happy to share any info we have on the above listed lines.
