| I have been researching both my father's (McDonald) and mother's (Whitlock) families for many years.Both families settled in southern Ontario, Canada. The McDonalds came from the outer Hebrides in about 1849, settling in Brechin, Ontario, and later, in Toronto. The Whitlocks came from Yorkshire, England, at the beginning of this century, and settled in Weston, Ontario, now part of Toronto. My McDonald tree goes back 230 years, spans seven generations, and has 945 people on it. The Whitlock tree goes back about 90 years, with around 100 people on it.
