| I am searching for information about a Samuel McDaniel. I know he was Cherokee Indian. He lived in Meigs County, Tennessee in the early 1800's. In 1817, he traded his land in Tennessee for land in Indian Territory (IT), in the vicinity of Sallisaw. He moved to IT in 1844, but only lived there about a year, then returned to Tennessee. His son, John McDaniel, remained in IT. My family has been in Oklahome since then. I am trying to find a Scottish link to Samuel. I know the Scots had settled in the South in the early 1700's, and many of them established families with the Cherokee Indians. Since McDaniel is a variation of McDonald, I am trying to establish a link to Clan Donald. |
