This page will ultimately contain our family tree and be an aid to others as well as myself in investigating the history of the McDermott's and McGivern's from South Armagh. My great, great Grandfather John McDermott emigrated from Killevy Parish to New York in 1852 after the death of his son Partrick in 1851 and the emigration of his wife Catherine McGivern in 1851. They eventually settled in Peoria, Illinois to raise a family. It is to Peoria that the Gillespie's and Gallaghers also emigrated from county Donegal to New Orleans.

I am also intersted in the History of South Armagh, the old Barony of Orior, Killevy Parish and Ballymacdermot.

This page will also have information on the Gillespie's, Gallagher's as well as the Scotch-Irish Dinnings from county Derry, the Scotish Magruders, and the German families of my wife - Haffeman's and Schmidt's.
