My research began with a desire to learn and record as much information as I could about my father's and mother's families. This research initially centered around four sirnames; McEWEN, CASSEL, CHUMBLEY and BRISTOW. It has since grown to include the following surnames; BABCOCK, BADOUR, BEDARD, BEDORE, BONGARD, BOWEN, PETERS, SHEPHERD & WORSFOLD. I would like to thank my cousin Lynn McEwen for all the research and work he poured into the McEwen family history and for his willingness to share his information with myself and other family members. His passion for our family history is inspiring. My search has born much fruit and taken me in many different directions. While trying to track down and confirm stories of aboriginal roots I have discovered that a big part of our heritage is in fact Algonquin and not Iroquois. Alexander Joseph Badour, the father or Eliza Badour(see picture)was an Algonquin Indian. Information about Eliza's mother, Eliza Peters, still eludes me. All I can find is that she was Irish. Also I have been unable to find information about another of my ancestors. James CASSELL was reportedly born in Matawatchen, Ontario and settled in the Sharbot Lake area in Frontenac County, Ontario. One of his daughters, Elizabeth CASSEL, married my Grand Father, William Thomas McEWEN of Bolingbroke in Lanark County, Ontario. As before I would greatly appreciate any information about James CASSELL and his family. Please be patient, information will be added to this page as time permits.
