I have been wrestling with the fact that James McFadden was Robert McFaddens’ father along with Frances/Francis Taylor being his mother for the last 7 – 8 years. There seems to be no proof except that every where I search, it always comes up as that. I believe that some one claimed this and others have followed. Accordingly, Francis had two children out of wedlock, William and Robert, according to birth and marriage dates.

Francis Taylor was 18 when she was married.

If William McFadden is the son of James and Francis, he was born out of wedlock by 9 years according to the marriage date. This would have been very unacceptable at that time. Francis would have been 10 years old.

If Robert McFadden is the son of James and Francis, he too was born out of wedlock by 2 years according to the marriage date. Francis was only 16 years old.
