Tom Johnston McFadden and Margaret Butzow McFadden moved to Covington, Ohio in 1954 and bought the village newspaper (The Stillwater Valley Advertiser). Their first son, Thomas Arthur, entered the village school system, and graduated from CHS. A second son, John Michael, was born in 1955, and also graduated from CHS.

While in Covington, the family was active in the United Church of Christ, with Tom and Margaret serving in lay Christian Education roles, as camp directors, and otherwise.

As time has passed, both sons moved elsewhere, and following the divorce of Tom and Margaret, Tom also relocated. Late in her life, Margaret moved to the Dorthy Love Retirement Community, outside Sidney, Ohio.
