I have just begun my family search. My challenge is that our family name was changed upon first immigrating to the United States and I want to know our original family name which is supposedly something entirely different.My initial research will focus on the McFarlands who live primarily in Marshalltown, IA, beginning with my grandparents Walter and Virginia McFarland. This is as far back as my knowledge goes currently.I hope to eventually track our ancestery back to Norway to discover our ancestoral name.
