Grandpa told me that he did not like the name Perry so he used Milan for his first name and S. for his middle initial standing for nothing. 1900 Fulton Co IL census lists him as Perry M. age 2, son of Winfield Scott and Martha Painter. His father also did not like his first name and went by the name of Scott.

He attended the Sweeney Auto School in Kansas City, Mo. They set up housekeeping at the Len Harris farm southeast of Lewistown. For a time he farmed. Since 1940 he worked for Fulton Co. Highway Department driving a gravel truck until he retired.
