| I am researching the family history of the three Jahns brothers (Ludwig, William, and August), who emigrated from Prussia to the United States in 1865. They left their parents, Samuel and Christine Jahns, and very little is known of them. Ludwig was married to Ernestine (Tumm) and they had three small children and pregnant with their fourth, when they made their journey to the U.S., with Ludwig's unmarried brothers, William and August. When they debarked the ship in New York harbor, Ludwig and Ernestine's fourth child was born. Family records show a great deal of information on these three brothers and their families. They settled in Central Wisconsin and in Minnesota. There are still a lot of Jahns' in Central Wisconsin that we have been unable to link to our family records. Some of the names that appear in the family records, other than Jahns (sometimes referred to as Johns), include: Tumm, Kromer, Kuehn, Korth, Lunow, Marquart, Freier, Stellmacher, Schneckenberg, and Belau. If you have any information that would connect your family to ours, I would enjoy hearing from you. I will be happy to share whatever information I have with you, as well. |
