| Welcome to my family home page. Thank you for stopping by. My research began in 1985 with fewer than 100 names. Since then it has bushed out to nearly 116,000 individuals and hundreds of families. It just keeps growing and growing. As with all family trees there are people in my history from all walks of life: peasants, paupers, inventors, pastors, and martyrs, farmers, horse trainers, innkeepers, carpenters, storekeepers, oilmen, seamen and sea captains. There are some royal ancestors in our past, some knights, barons, princes, and princesses, and even some kings and queens. The original Doble's were Anglo-Saxons that had a large part in settling England. From there they spread around the globe. Some branches of our family also descend from Mayflower passengers. Family records say that Tobias Doble was the first ancestor by that name to come to America. I have not been successful in linking Tobias Doble to our direct line, and professional researchers also failed to find a link between Tobias and Captain John Doble (b. 1703) who is confirmed as our direct ancestor. John was my 5th great grandfather married to Abigail Roliston. The records are in the Christ's Church records. His birth place is not confirmed, but his death certificate shows that he died in Boston in 1773. Sometime during or after the Revolution, some of the Dobles went to Maine. Some fought in the Revolutionary War on the side of the Patriots, and some were Loyalists. My part of the Doble family went to Maine, then to Minnesota. Many wonderful people have helped me on these branches of my family: too many to thank individually by name. Larry Doble in Ontario stands at the top of the list for putting so many hours of work into helping me try to link my Doble's from Maine and Minnesota to the Luke Doble line in Canada. John Gary Doble from Tennessee sent pictures of grave stones, and Eugene Hoskin's information took our line back to the kings. Bonnie Plant Henderson and Frances Elson, contributed to the cause, as well and so many others. The Taylor side of my family is a mystery I am still trying to solve as well. There are two or possibly three Taylor lines from England, Ireland and Scotland that connect to my Deer family in Ontario, which seem to have dropped out of the sky. As with every genealogy project this one is ongoing and more work needs to be done to fill in the gaps. I continue to seek documentation and to add sources and notes. Out of common courtesy, please do not use any of this information without permission and without giving credit where it is due. Thanks again for stopping by. Myrna Doble McGhie Researcher in Alaska |
