Notes for William Harrison Henry: William owned 212 acres of land on the north side of the road, from the road on the east side of the Ridgeway Cemetery west to the first road going north. The family home was 1/2 mile west of the Cemetery. He also owned 40 acres across the road south of the house. At one time he operated a Grist Mill there. The Ridgeway City Lake and Water Plant are now on that land.
William started the Ridgeway Cemetery in 1879. He gave 1 acre for the cemetery and sold 2 acres to the city of Ridgeway. He added enough land on the west side for 2 rows of lots for his children. His name was placed on the second gate of the cemetery. He gave lots on the original acre to some of his brothers and sisters. His parents, William and Sarah are buried here.
Ella and William H. were married at the home of Almond McHenry, Ella's father. The home was only a few miles north of the William H. home.
William served as a guard at the border in the Civil War. He was 18 at the time.
Was not embalmed after he died

INFORMATION: Ridgeway, Then an Now; 1880-1982; Vol II; Salt lake Family History Library Book #977.817/R1 D2r; NOTE: William Harrison Henry, "Uncle Bill" to Ridgeway residents, was born in Greene County, Ohio, on Nov 22, 1844. He came with his parents, borthers an sisters to Cedar County, Iowa. Later they moved to Harrison County, Missouri, thirty yars before the railroad. They homesteaed two miles northwest of Ridgeway on Big Creek on the land which is now known as the Gerald Dale Farm. William H was the son of William (1804-1881) and Sarah Schumacher (1802-1811) Henry, both born in Virginia. He was the youngest of ten children. The others who lived to be aults were: John, Samule, James, Sidney, Margaret (Rake), Hannah (Redinger), an Sarah (Taylor). William H married Eliza Ann McHenry, born May 6, 1843 on Feb 28, 1864. Their children were: Samuel, Sheridan, Adie (Yeater), John, William and Vida (Fouth). William and Eliza movedwith their first three children from his parents' home to their new house they had bilt on land he had "entered". This was a short distance from his father's farm an one-half mile west of the Ridgeway Cemetery. Eliza died August 4, 1879. On Oct 30, 1879 William married Ella Jane McHenry, born Jan 22, 1855. Eliza and Ella Jane were sisters, th daughters of Almond H. (1821-1903) and Mary Rodgers (1827-1891) McHenry. William and Ella were the parents of nine children: Frank, Annie (Eaton), Kathryn (Stockwell), mary (Stobbe), Della (1889-1890), Clyde, Lucy (Carnagey), Clifford and Bula (1898) . . . He started the Henry Cemetery on the east side of his farm next to the road. . . William H and his family were members of the United Brethren Church . . . Ella died May 18, 1929, leaving William alone only 3 years, as he died on April 23, 1932, at his hime in Ridgeway. His funeral was April 25 at the Ridgeway Christian Church. He was laid to est in the original Henry Cemetery part (east side) of the Ridgeway Cemetery, "back home" to him.
