For some time I thought this was the Arlington Sugar Plantation that was the home of James Alexander & Eliza (Chinn) McHatton; however, I have recently learned that the Arlington in this photograph is located in Franklin, LA.
"The (Baton Rouge) Arlington Plantation (owned by James Alexander McHatton), illustrated in "Flag to Flag", looks exactly like this one and was once a thriving plantation located on the River Rd. south of Baton Rouge, just north of Brightside Lane. However, nothing remains, not even a trace. Like most of the Old South, it too has Gone with the Wind."
...haven't passed that way in quite some time, so I can't say exactly what stands there now but it's all built up for sure...best book on the subject, "From Flag to Flag", by Eliza Ripley." (Ref: http://hometown.aol.com/larelic)
Illustartions from the cited book indicate the McHatton plantation was of the same design as in these photos.
