I'm looking for the ancestors of WILLIAM ALLEN McHATTON (ABT 1875-1953) & his brothers, James H McHatton & Noble McHATTON. These McHatton's, sons of James Denny McHatton (1836-1917) and Frances Druscilla Derrim Hutchins (1849-1880), lived in Henderson, KY in the early 1900's. James Denny McHatton, a CSA veteran, left Kentucky about 1871 and died in Springtown, TX, in 1917. WILLIAM ALLEN McHATTON died in Paragould, AR, in 1953.

I am back to James McHatton (1791-1859), married to Margaret Ann Kalfus (1808-1897) on 30 May 1830; however prior to that it gets a little speculative, but I believe I have the family back to about 1693 in Ireland.

Im am also looking for information on JOHN WESLEY GARLAND. He is believed to be from North Carolina, lived in Indiana, and was living in Cherry Valley, AR, from the early 1900's until his death in 1951.

I am interested in the any of following surnames: BROBST, PROBST, MORAN, ROBINSON, TYLER, FISHER, KALFUS, and GARR, MacHatton, Mchattan, McHatten, McHatton, McElhatton, McElhatten, McElhattan, McIlhattan, McIlhatten, or McIlhatton.

The BROBST Family holds their annual family reunion in Topeka, KS, on the first Sunday after Father's Day.

My McHATTON Family Reunion is the last week-end in June of each year and is usually held at The Lake of the Ozaarks, near Osage Beach, MO.

  • Arlington Plantation (5 KB)
For some time I thought this was the Arlington Sugar Plantation that was the home of James Alexander & Eliza (Chinn) McHatton; however, I have recently learned that the Arlington in this photograph is located in Franklin, LA. "The (Baton Rouge) Arlington Plantation (owned by James Alexander McHatton), illustrated in "Flag to Flag", looks exactly like this one and was once a thriving plantation located on the River Rd. south of Baton Rouge, just north of Brightside Lane. However, nothing remains, not even a trace. Like most of the Old South, it too has Gone with the Wind." ...haven't passed that way in quite some time, so I can't say exactly what stands there now but it's all built up for sure...best book on the subject, "From Flag to Flag", by Eliza Ripley." (Ref: http://hometown.aol.com/larelic) Illustartions from the cited book indicate the McHatton plantation was of the same design as in these photos.
